I hate the term having a ‘cheat meal’ as it suggests you are doing something wrong. Instead I use the word ‘treat’ as we’re all entitled to treats in life, even food treats whilst following a healthy eating plan, and this is why I created a ‘treat section’ in my justSlim diet plan!
If you begin a diet plan by saying I’ll never eat xyz (insert favourite food) then inevitably you will start thinking of that food and eventually binge out on it. The result then being despair, guilt and an end to your healthy eating diet… again!
Are you overwhelmed by the sheer number of different exercise machines and equipment in your gym and don’t know where to start?
There’s the treadmill, cross trainer, stationary bike, recline bike, stepper, concept 2 rower, not to mention dumbbells, kettlebells, VIPRR, vibration platforms, medicine balls…the list just goes on.
Who said carbohydrate based snacks are bad for you? Some of my favourite snack and mini meal choices revolve around wholemeal pitta bread. In itself this bread is low in fat, high in fibre and so versatile. It can be enjoyed hot or cold and with an array of toppings and dips.
Here are some of my favourite pitta options…
What is a diet food fraud?
Well, it calls itself ‘low fat’, ‘healthy’ and ‘natural’ which often translates into ‘full of chemicals, artificial sweeteners and/or sugar’ and will wreak havoc with your blood sugar levels and hunger!
Who are the culprits?
Pardon me for stating the obvious – that plyometric training increases power! But what I’m referring to is that plyometric training results in far more than just improved muscular power. Performing explosive exercises has the power to increase your calorie burn and power your weight loss to new levels and reduce boredom and exercise time too. Sounds good right?
This is a classic weight loss faux pas. You go to the gym, sweat your ass off and feel great. So to reward yourself you head straight for the coffee shop with your gym buddies and order a skinny cappuccino (70 calories) and skinny blueberry muffin (350 calories).
That’s over 400 calories consumed following approximately 400 calories burned in the gym.
The net result is a big fat zero calorie deficit and zero weight loss.
It’s no secret that I’m a huge believer of Power Plate vibration training (otherwise known as acceleration training) for strengthening, toning and improving your body shape. I’ve been a Master Trainer, presenter, model and ambassador for Power Plate for over 7 years.
But it’s this time of year when I particularly shout about it because when your bikini calls you need a quick but effective solution to target your wobbly bits! And believe me, Power Plate is your answer.
I had planned a great workout for this evening and was looking forward to blasting out 15 x 30 second sprints on the treadmill. I know these are effective at burning fat and helping with weight loss when performed with short recoveries.
Feeling full of motivation I headed to the gym in my apartment complex only to find that every treadmill was occupied – sigh!
“Imagination dominates the will”. What do I mean by this?
Well, if you keep imagining chocolate and cupcakes then this image will override your will power to resist them. Instead you need to imagine how you will look and feel when you have lost weight and are striding out to dinner in a slinky frock, not a single worry about any wobbles. Now isn’t that a stronger motivator to resist?
If you’ve decided you want to lose weight you’ve already taken the first step by wanting to make a change. But weight loss doesn’t just happen – you have to come up with a plan to make that change happen. Just as you have to plan your work activities to achieve your business targets, you have to do the same for your weight loss goals.
